Abstract:
The L.N. Dantzler Lumber Company serves as an example of one successful lumber company that helped shape south Mississippi economically, socially, and environmentally. Through the efforts of owner Lorenzo Nolley Dantzler, Sr., his sons, and manager Rufus Quitman Breland, the company made profits through the production and exportation of sawn southern longleaf yellow pine. Located in Moss Point, Mississippi, the L. N. Dantzler Lumber Company thrived during the Progressive Era, and overcame obstacles to outlast and out produce other timber industry businesses.
