Scope and Contents
Land abstracts compiled by Mr. Joseph Iriving Thompson of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The documents trace ownership of various properties in Lamar, Jefferson Davis, Covington, Perry, and Forrest counties in Mississippi (circa 1818-1962). Also in the collection is one folder of correspondence between Joseph Thompson and I.B. Stacy, written on Homochitto Lumber Company letterhead (1926). Mr. Thompson was employed as a bookkeeper for the J.J. Newman Lumber Company, and worked independently for people speculating in oil.
