David Walls Collection on the Child Development Group of Mississippi
Form of Material
Correspondence, newsletters, newspaper articles, orientation materials, and other documents pertaining to the Child Development Group of Mississippi (CDGM), a statewide Head Start program organized in the summer of 1965 to serve preschool children from poverty-level families. Materials in the collection were preserved by David Walls, who worked for Project Head Start at the Office of Economic Opportunities in Washington, D. C., and was present at the CDGM orientation session in 1965. Also in the collection are materials relating to the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at The University of Mississippi, including a letter inviting Professor David Walls to serve as a National Consultant to the Center.
