Copy of "The Great Generation," the autobiography of journalist Ernest I. Watson (1904-1974), who grew up in Louisiana and Texas and enjoyed a fifty-year career as a journalist. The text chronicles his life and times growing up in small southern towns before the depression and life on a farm. His autobiography also includes a selection of his editorials which Watson professes is ‘southern Christian’ and political views.

Biographical / Historical

Mr. Ernest Watson was born in Big Cane, Louisiana in 1904 and died in Bay Springs, Mississippi in 1978. His career of advertising and journalism spans over 50 years in Mississippi and Louisiana as an advertising writer and managing editor for several newspapers and radio stations. Mr. Watson worked for Baton Rouge State Times, Alexandria Town Talk, Monroe Morning Star, Jackson Daily News, Clarion-Ledger, McComb Enterprise, Mutual Broadcasting Company, KBIX Radio, WDSU Radio, and the Jasper County News. He was a ‘man of his time’ in his writing for his editorials. In 1974, he was the oldest newspaper editor in Mississippi.
