Biographical / Historical
The Review Club of Hattiesburg, Mississippi was established September 23, 1913 and remained active until early 2020.
In the early 1900's there were a dozen or so women’s clubs organized in
Hattiesburg for literary, social, musical or charitable purposes. The Review Club was established for literary and social purposes, but has also included charitable endeavors through the years.
The Review Club has always had a Constitution and By-laws, a plan of study for each club year, meetings that are generally held in members’ homes, special events to celebrate anniversaries of the founding, elected officers and standing committees, a budget, a yearbook, a motto, club colors and one business meeting a year. Members of the group select prospective members and vote to extend an invitation to them.
