Biographical / Historical
Hector Holdbrook Howard, Jr. was born on 30 October 1873, in Carthage, Leake county, Mississippi. His father, Dr. Hector H. Howard, Sr. was born in Vermont and for many years was one of the leading medical practitioners in Leake county. His mother, Susan A. Slaughter, was born in Alabama.
He married Erma Jordan on 25 February 1897, in Leake county, Mississippi. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 3 daughters. He lived in Beat 4, Hinds county, Mississippi in 1940 and Jackson, Mississippi in 1960. He died on 10 May 1960 at the age of 86, and was buried at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.
His brother, Howard, Louis Holbrook, M. D., established his practice in Hattiesburg.
