Biographical / Historical

Reverend John Buford Cain (1892-1984) was a lifelong Methodist historian who graduated with his MS in Church History from Emory University. He collected historical materials related to the history of Methodism and authored many pamphlets, books, and other publications on the subject, including The Cradle of Mississippi Methodismand Methodism in the Mississippi Conference: 1846-1870". He was also a member of the Mississippi Conference Historical Society (now the Mississippi Conference Commission on Archives and History) and served as its Director of Historical Research from 1962 to 1983.
