This collection contains one Eudora Welty poster with the quote, “As you have seen, I am a writer who came of a sheltered life. A sheltered life can be a daring life as well. For all serious daring starts from within.” The poster also contains several products sitting in the forefront of the poster such as the Campbell’s Pea Soup, Sunbrite Cleanser, and Nu-Shine Black.

Biographical / Historical

Eudora Welty was born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1909, and became a well-known international author. Welty lived her whole life in Jackson, Mississippi where she attended Davis Elementary School and Jackson’s Central High School. After high school, Welty received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and later received a graduate degree from the Columbia University School of Business. Eudora Welty has several written works some of which include A Curtain of Green, The Wide Net, Delta Wedding, and Losing Battles. Eudora Welty was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her novel The Optimist’s Daughter. Her other awards also include the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the French Legion of Honor. She was featured in the Library of America series. Eudora Welty died on July 23, 2001, in Jackson, Mississippi where she was buried at her home.
