Biographical / Historical

Alexander Paul Charrier McKee was born July 25, 1918, and passed away on July 22 1992 in Portsmouth, England. McKee was a military historian and a diver, and he is perhaps best known for his discovery of Henry VIII’s warship, Mary Rose, in 1970. The ship sunk in 1545, and the possibility of its discovery was considered highly unlikely; McKee and his team’s discovery was an incredibly important find for British historians. McKee wrote 27 books in his lifetime on a range of historical topics.
