Scope and Contents
The collection includes materials used or received by Alberta F. Eisman. The contents of box 1 includes typescripts that were edited, galley proofs, a first proof, and a copyedit. Box 2 contains folded and gathered books, photos, correspondence, galley proofs, illustrations, and title pages.

Biographical / Historical
Alberta F. Eiseman (1925-2017) wrote and illustrated books such as The Sunday Whirligig, published by Atheneum in 1977, The Guest Dog, published by Random House in 1968, and Rebels and Reformers, published by Doubleday in 1976. Alberta was of Jewish decent. Both her home and her office were at 5 Hidden Hill, Westport, CT. Alberta usually resided on the Democratic side of politics. Alberta’s career started as editorial staff and editor of a book review column for Seventeen, an American teen magazine. She then became a children’s book reviewer for New York Times in New York City from 1952-1965. In 1956, she became a free-lance writer for children and continued this career for the rest of her life.
