Copy of the marriage certificate of Philip Nolan and Fanny Lintot, who were married in Adams County, Mississippi Territory, on December 19, 1799 by Justice of the Peace William Dunbar. Nolan, a Kentuckian associated with General James Wilkinson, was killed by Spanish troops on March 26, 1801. His life served as the inspiration for Edward Everett Hale's short novel The Man Without a Country.

A collection of correspondence, estate documents, certificates, newsletters, genealogical materials and other items pertaining to the families of Abner Polk and his wife, Ida Chambers Polk. Abner Polk was born in Lawrence County, Mississippi in 1860, and Ida Chambers was born in Washington County, Alabama in 1867. Abner and Ida were married on February 13, 1890, and lived in Marion County, Mississippi until approximately 1898, when they moved to Hattiesburg.

Business records of Jas. D. Riley, Inc., in Newhebron, Mississippi. There are handwritten invoices and typed miscellaneous correspondence. There are letters requesting late payments be made immediately, as well as letters to and from prospective customers. Of particular interest is a letter requesting payment of $16.25 for transporting 2 prisoners from Hattiesburg to Newhebron to stand trial for robbing the Hebron Bank dated April 2, 1915.

The Stephen C. Rose papers include a broad range of materials spanning a significant portion of Mr. Rose’s life. His relations with Will D.
