Stennis as an alternative to the existing state flag at the time that featured a Confederate flag. It was officially named the “Declare Mississippi flag” but popularly referred to as the Stennis flag. In January 2021, the Mississippi Senate approved another design to replace the existing state flag that had been voted upon in November 2020.
