Candy Brown Gonzalez of Los Angeles, participated in the Mississippi Freedom Summer Project from June to December 1964. The collection contains photographs she took while in Greenville, Issaquena County, McComb, Hattiesburg and Waveland.

The collection contains testimonies, articles, press releases, and documents on various aspects of Mississippi during the Hurricane Katrina disaster and the years of struggle for recovery on the Mississippi gulf coast. These materials were compiled by University of Southern Mississippi History Professor, James "Pat" Smith, in creating his book Hurricane Katrina: the Mississippi Story.

“The Haven” Record Book collection contains a handwritten ledger with entries from 1901-1910 that detail the daily activities at “The Haven,” the Waveland summer home of Robert E. Craig of Yazoo City, Mississippi. The ledger also contains inserts, which include Confederate money, a needlework, and newspaper clippings. This collection would be of particular interest for researchers studying Mississippi history and life on estates / manor homes in the early twentieth century.
