Material from the Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield, Mississippi, where B. Beckwith, Sr. was confined for observation in 1963, in connection with his trial for the murder of civil rights activist Medgar Evers.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of materials related to the Citizens' Council, the Ku Klux Klan, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, other civil rights groups and related individuals. The Citizens' Council was one of over 40 pro-segregated organizations formed after the U.S. Supreme Court decision (Brown v. Scope and Contents

The collection consists of thirty-one photocopied pages from a scrapbook documenting the career of William F. “Bill” Dukes with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (1964-1967; undated). Mr. Dukes retained the original scrapbook.

Form of Material

Miscellaneous personal papers of a Hattiesburg resident. Mrs. Edna L. Hollensed was the great granddaughter of John Wesley Hollensed (M34). She lived at 1414 North Main Street and died in the mid-1990s.

This collection is comprised mainly of materials that document Erle Johnston's personal life and professional activities from approximately 1922 through his death in 1995.
